In this section you will complete the prerequisites, these will ensure you are ready to begin your learning journey to become a nutritional nurse consultant.
Completion of the prerequisites will also ensure you have the support of your manager to set up nurse nutrition consultations in your practice.

Preparation 

In this section you will complete the prerequisites, these will ensure you are ready to begin your learning journey to become a nutritional nurse consultant. Completion of the prerequisites will also ensure you have the support of your manager to set up nurse nutrition consultations in your practice. 

Lay down the foundations 

You will also lay down the foundations of your nutritional knowledge by completing some nutrient and life stage basics so you are ready to build your knowledge from the foundations up. You will be confident to put this knowledge presented to you into action and start to provide clients with nutritional recommendations based on your understanding of the importance of the different nutrients in each pet's life stage.

How you will progress

After you have completed the prerequisites you will progess through Stage 1 and Stage 2 Training to complete your
Hill's Nutritional Nurse Consultation Course and become a Hill's Certified Nutritional Consultant.
You will also have the option of continuing your learning if you wish.

STAGE 1

Strengthen your nutrition knowledge to ensure confident diet recommendations for both well and sick pets.
Learning will be via online videos & quizzes, interactive therapeutic nutrition modules, 
 and you will conduct an in clinic feeding trial.
You will also complete a communication module through Crampton Consulting Group to help position yourself in the consult room.  By the end of this section you will be conducting your own Nutritional Nurse Consultations.
 Study time: 24 hours 

STAGE 2

"Next-level" learning!
Challenge yourself with these various activities and become a well respected mentor by both your nurse and veterinarian colleagues.
We will help you unlock your inner potential so you can excel in your nutritional nurse consultations.
This section includes creating and presenting a therapeutic nutrition case report, coaching and mentoring skills, Hill's Nurses Weekend Retreat and Hill's Nutritional Nurse Consultant Certification.
 Study time: 22 hours
Weekend: 16 hours
Total hours: 38

Further Learning (Optional)

An optional self funded course by Crampton Consultant Group. Further improve patient health and increase client loyalty and compliance.  Reduce veterinarian stress and workload whilst increasing practice revenue and your own productivity and job satisfaction.
 Study Time: 12 hours

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Loren Mawby

Loren Mawby works as a Hill's Territory Manager in South Australia as well as working on Hill's Veterinary Nursing Programs. She too is a passionate Veterinary Nurse! She has a Diploma in Animal Technology, a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing as well as a Diploma in General Practice.
Loren loves all things surgery and nutrition, she has worked as a surgical nurse in a specialty practice as well as in an  Emergency & Referral Centre.
Loren is looking forward to sharing her love of nutrition and helping you to develop all the knowledge and skills you need to set up nutrition nurse consultations in your practice.

Rae Schafer-Evans

Rae is a certified VN and has an interest in behaviour which led her to become an Accredited Delta Behaviour Trainer. She has completed a Cert IV in Business and has worked a variety of roles at Hill's. Currently, Rae engineers and manages education programs and professional social media platforms utilising both online and offline resources for veterinary professional audiences which are replicated throughout Hill's globally. 
This course is Rae's favourite of all the Hills education programs because she loves to watch nurses flourish as they take on the additional responsibilities of becoming a nutritional consultant.
